Will Murray the Groundhog see his shadow? Join Cumberland Mayor, Ray Morriss on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 7:00 AM as we welcome our furry prognosticator, Western Maryland Murray, so he can tell us if we will have an early spring or 6 more weeks of winter.
The Mayor and City Council will lead the celebration as Murray emerges from his cozy tree stump to predict whether we are heading into an early spring or if winter is sticking around. Event will also be live-streamed on the City of Cumberland Facebook page. Masks and social distancing are required if attending in person.
A virtual coloring contest is underway for youngsters, up to 10 years old, with a prize for the most original and unique entry. Coloring sheets are available a number of ways:
- Download from the website
- Download from the Facebook page
- Pick up in-person from the Office of Community Development in the lower level of City Hall
All entries are due back no later than Noon on Monday, February 1st and can be dropped off to the Community Development office, placed in the Drop Box at City Hall, or emailed to: melinda.kelleher@cumberlandmd.gov.
