Program Description

Event Details

This National Library Week, the Allegany County Library System (ACLS) is continuing a beloved tradition — helping local families and pets while giving patrons a chance to reduce their library fines. After the success of past events, ACLS is expanding the program to a full week of giving this year.

From April 20-25 all ACLS library locations will collect non-perishable food items for local families and Purina pet food for the Allegany County Animal Shelter. For every item or pound donated, one dollar will be waived from library fines, with no limit this year. Patrons without fines are also encouraged to participate and make a difference using our "Pay it Forward" program.

  • One non-perishable food item = $1.00 waived
  • Purina Dry dog or cat food: One pound = $1.00 waived
  • Canned dog and cat food: One can = $1.00 waived

Donations are accepted during operating hours, please check your local library hours before visiting.  Please do not leave donations outside or in book drops.
