Event Details

Choose Civility: Allegany County and its partners will celebrate the annual “Day of Civility” with events all month long.  This year’s theme is “Chalk it Up to Civility,” an idea that stemmed from the Choose Civility steering committee during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way safe way to share and celebrate civility as a community.  We are encouraging adults and children to participate in using chalk drawings with inspiring messages and words of encouragement to spread kindness to others in our community.  The goal is to provide opportunity for collaborative conversation in spite of difference, develop consensus in the place of division, and create connectedness in our community.

Meet us and the Easter bunny in Downtown Cumberland for a "Chalk It Up to Civility" event!

10:30 – Presentation at McCoury Family Stage includes remarks from Cumberland Mayor Ray Morris and a poem written and read by City Councilman Eugene Frazier.
