Program Description

Event Details

Come paint or draw shelter animals. You can choose to draw shelter animals or photos of pets. Paints, crayons, cardstock, and canvases will be supplied. All skill levels and ages welcomed! 

If you paint or draw a shelter animal, your creation will be given to the person who adopts the pet.
If you paint or draw a photo of a pet, your creation will be given to the pet owner. 

PET OWNERS: Send a donation and a picture of your pet with your contact information to the Allegany County Animal Shelter BEFORE July 28. Once your pet picture is created, you will be notified to come pick up your pet portrait at the Animal Shelter. Submit the $20 donation using the following link:  https://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/AlleganyCountyAnimalShelterFo/PaintPet.html. Photos should then be submitted to info@ashelterofhope.com.  Please provide your full name, pet’s name and phone number.    

Please note that you do not have to submit a donation or photo to participate in the program.

Accompanying Adults

This program is designed for children and accompanying adults. Please plan to be attend and be engaged with your child for this program. Drop offs will not be permitted.

Allegany County Library System may be taking photos at library sponsored programs.  Your participation in the program signifies your permission for us to use any photos that we take of you.  Please speak to a librarian now if you would prefer that your photo not be taken.  

Please Observe Social Distancing Guidelines for Events

Masks are encouraged inside the libraries for visitors over the age of two.  Families are asked to observe a distance of 6 feet from other families, children must stay with their families.

Masks are encouraged when selecting books and retrieving crafting kits from library staff at outdoor events.   

We are using guidelines from the CDC, State of Maryland, and Allegany County Health Department. Even as we follow these guidelines, as a public space and service we cannot guarantee a germ-free environment. Attending an event is your decision based on the needs of you and your family. For patrons not comfortable attending an event, we will be offering virtual programs.
