You're invited! West Virginia University Librarian, Nick Gardner will demonstrate how to find Piedmont Herald issues online at the Westernport Library during the monthly Westernport Heritage Society Meeting on December 10th at 7 p.m.
Advances in technology have allowed microfilmed issues of old West Virginia newspapers to be digitized so the public can gain access to them online.
Nick Gardner, interim program coordinator for the West Virginia University Potomac State College library, will demonstrate how easily assessible some of the local newspapers are now that they have been digitized.
The website features copies of the Mineral Daily News-Tribune back to 1911 and Potomac State’s own newspaper, The Pasquino, from 1921 to 2014. Also available are The Elk Garden News, The Frankford Beacon, along with the Piedmont Herald, dating back to the 1880s.The digitized collection is available at the Mary F. Shipper Library at psc.lib.wvu.edu.
The public is invited to attend the informative hour-long session, along with the board of directors of the Westernport Heritage Society.
