The Mountain Ridge High School Chess Club, champions of the 2023-2024 Allegany High School Chess Competition, will hold three workshops for students ages 8-16 starting October 5 and running through October 19, 2024. Through these workshops, which are intended for beginners, the Mountain Ridge Chess Club hopes to reach students who can go on to join chess clubs in their high schools or even form chess clubs at their middle schools.
Research shows that instructing children under the age of 13 in chess can produce improvements in school performance.
No fee! No equipment necessary!
